Remembering 126

It is late when I return,
sodden to the bone.
Clutching a couple of coins
and a crumpled ticket in my fist
I'm thoroughly dishevelled

...but its been an unforgettable ride home.

Peppered with lost earrings and missed calls
life-changing conversations
musically induced fantasylands
and some everlasting memories,
my ride has been smooth
...I can still feel the cool breeze in my face
and with Shreya Ghoshal crooning into my ears
my heart soars like never before

it's been bumpy too
sometimes I swerve wildly
negotiating the route ahead
dropping my iPod in the process
and oh dear! my bag's fallen down too!

...but its been an unforgettable ride home.

I must have spent hours waiting,
waiting for that familiar flash of red to turn round the corner
and my friend's dreamy face at a window seat.

I'm waiting again today
but just then it starts to rain
and I am sodden again...

...then it arrives, full to bursting
writhing, squirming, fidgeting
I search for her amid the crowd
and already I am being pushed around

but it's been an unforgettable ride home.
